Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 May 2026
This privacy policy explains which personal data we process when you use the CallWatcher app (iOS and Android), for what purpose and on what legal basis.

2. Data we process
2.1 Account data
When you sign in, we store your email address, display name and a unique user ID, depending on the sign-in method you choose. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication.
2.2 Location data
The app needs your location to associate connection losses with where you are and to display them on the outage map. Location processing happens locally on your device by default. Only when you explicitly share a connection loss in a group, the location is synchronised with that group.
You can choose the accuracy in the settings (low / medium / high). The "Always allow" permission is required for the app to keep monitoring in the background while you're on call.
2.3 Connection status
The app monitors the state of your mobile and Wi-Fi connection. This data is processed locally on your device and is not sent to our servers.
2.4 Group and schedule data
When you create or join a group, we store the group name, member list, schedules and shared outage entries in Cloud Firestore. This data is only visible to members of the same group.
2.5 Push notifications
For push notifications (e.g. for handovers) we store a device token (FCM token) from Firebase Cloud Messaging. This token doesn't contain personal information directly but is used to deliver messages to your device.
2.6 Purchases (Premium)
Premium features are processed through Apple StoreKit (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android). The purchase itself is handled by Apple or Google — we only receive the information whether a valid subscription exists. We do not process payment data.
3. Third-party services
- Google / Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland): Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging. Processing primarily within the EU.
- Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google and Microsoft Entra ID — only if you use these sign-in options.
- Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing for in-app purchases.
4. Legal basis
- Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of contract) — for providing the app features.
- Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent) — for location access and push notifications, which you can revoke at any time in the system settings.
- Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest) — for the secure operation and improvement of the app.
5. Retention period
Account data is stored for as long as your account exists. Shared group and outage data remains visible to the group until you delete it or leave the group. On request, we delete all your data within 30 days.
6. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15)
- Rectify inaccurate data (Art. 16)
- Erase your data (Art. 17)
- Restrict processing (Art. 18)
- Data portability (Art. 20)
- Object to processing (Art. 21)
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77)
7. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). Alternatively, write to info@callwatcher.app and we'll delete your account and all related data within 30 days.
